What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Bryant Conference Center Normal Work Schedule:
Varies; Includes days, nights, weekends, overtime, and some holidays.
Job Summary:
The Custodian performs routine manual work in housekeeping and cleaning of interior spaces and immediate exterior areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, polishes and dusts furniture, and cleans restrooms, windows, blinds, mirrors, etc. in buildings across campus.
Additional Department Summary:
Must be able to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks. Sets up event rooms with equipment and furniture. Cleans event rooms and other spaces associated with events. Performs light maintenance. Secures the building as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions. Must maintain confidentiality.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to compose, send, and receive emails. Ability to operate and use a smartphone for business purposes. Ability to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks, including setting up event rooms with equipment and furniture. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a consistent basis, with or without accommodation. Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
