Facilities Description Job Summary:
The Institutional Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising custodial employees and coordinating daily cleaning and maintenance activities. This position ensures that buildings, classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces are clean, safe, sanitary, and properly maintained. Southeast Arkansas College is seeking a qualified applicant for our Institutional Services Supervisor. This position oversees cleaning and sanitation operations, supervises custodial staff, maintains facilities, and ensures safety and cleanliness standards are consistently met. This position will report directly to the Director of Facilities Management and will supervise our Institutional Services personnel. This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week and some weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Must have knowledge on stripping and waxing floors. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate custodial staff. Assign daily cleaning duties and inspect completed work. Ensure buildings and facilities meet established cleanliness and sanitation standards. Monitor inventory and order or request cleaning supplies and equipment. Train employees on proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and workplace safety. Ensure compliance with OSHA, health, safety, and sanitation requirements. Any other duties assigned by their supervisor. Respond to spills, emergencies, special cleaning needs, and maintenance concerns. Maintain records of staff schedules, inspections, supplies, and work activities. Coordinate cleaning for special events, meetings, and facility activities. Report maintenance problems, damaged equipment, or safety hazards. Operate or oversee the use of floor machines, vacuums, pressure washers, and other custodial equipment. Address employee performance, attendance, and workplace concerns. Communicate with administrators, managers, employees, and building occupants regarding custodial services. Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and materials. Any other duties assigned by their supervisor Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities experience. Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred. Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and custodial equipment. Ability to train and supervise employees effectively. Ability to read and follow safety instructions and chemical labels. Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform physical duties such as standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) bending, and moving equipment. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
