A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Technician I, Custodial Salary $16.00 - $20.80 Hourly Location Prescott Campus, Prescott, AZ Job Type Full Time Job Number 2026-00178 Department Prescott Custodial Opening Date 07/16/2026 Description Benefits Description of Position Perform a variety of cleaning tasks which require light physical effort and involve the use of hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment. Specific instructions are provided on what to clean and the methods to use. Completion of work orders and related paperwork on an electronic work order system Minimum Expectations & Requirements Valid AZ Driver's License. Ability to follow work direction and work as a part of a team Ability to adapt to workplace and work load changes Accuracy and attention to detail with regards to work orders and time keeping Help with setups when needed Properly vacuum carpet and dust mop and wet mop hard floors Ability to keep bathrooms clean and sanitized and stocked Identifies issues with buildings and equipment and requests work orders Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties Aptitude to learn new tasks quickly Ability to communicate effectively with peers and managers in person, by phone and email Ability to work in an environment which promotes teamwork and strong work ethics Work after hours and weekends to cover shows at the Performing Arts Center, special events and projects Complete Hillyard Custodial Series Level 1 Preferred Skills & Abilities - High school diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to safety operate all equipment and tools associated with custodial projects Hand Tools Power Tools Some Heavy Equipment Familiarity with OSHA's Safety Standards and ability to work within the parameters of OSHA Ability to read maintenance manuals and make minor repairs to equipment Must have knowledge of all floor systems and finishes used at the College Must be able to efficiently operate all floor machines to include side by side, high speed buffer and concrete polisher Identifies building areas that need attention and corrects deficiencies without being told Must be detail detail-oriented and proficient in cleaning all areas of buildings A least 2 years as a Technician I Complete Hillyard Custodial Series Level 2 & 3 Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
