What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, performs the full range of custodial duties related to the care, routine maintenance, and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities; moves furniture and equipment to set up for classes, activities, and functions; interacts with and provides basic information and assistance to the public; and performs related work as required.
Requirements:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, and one (1) year of experience in janitorial or custodial work. Previous custodial experience working in a commercial, municipal, or public facility is highly desired. Valid California class C driver's license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance. Position will be required to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
