If interested please contact Priscilla at 562 566 4720 Job Description The Sanitation Worker performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and operational support at a transfer station to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant facility. This role includes waste inspection, traffic control, equipment cleaning, and general facility upkeep, while supporting solid waste collection, recycling activities, community cleanup efforts, and emergency debris removal in accordance with all safety and environmental regulations. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping throughout the transfer station, including sweeping, sanitizing, and general janitorial duties. Inspect incoming waste materials to help ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Assist with traffic control within the transfer station to maintain safe and orderly vehicle movement. Clean and maintain facility equipment, tools, and work areas to support safe and efficient operations. Support solid waste collection activities by handling, sorting, and moving trash and recyclables as needed. Participate in recycling operations and community cleanup efforts to promote environmental stewardship. Assist with emergency debris removal during storms, incidents, or other events requiring rapid response. Operate light-duty trucks and small power tools safely and in accordance with established procedures. Follow all City safety policies and adhere to OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations at all times. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and ensure smooth operations. Perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials up to 50 pounds. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment by promptly addressing spills, debris, and potential hazards. Essential Skills 2-3 years of recent experience in housekeeping, janitorial work, trash handling, or groundskeeping (preferred). Demonstrated ability to perform sanitation, janitorial, and general housekeeping duties in an industrial or outdoor setting. Ability to safely lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to operate light-duty trucks safely in and around a transfer station or similar facility. Ability to operate small power tools safely and follow established operating procedures. Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations related to sanitation and waste handling. Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions. Strong communication skills, including the ability to follow instructions and report issues promptly. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with trash collection, recycling activities, or transfer station operations. Experience in groundskeeping, facility maintenance, or general labor roles. Familiarity with traffic control practices within industrial or waste management facilities. Comfort working around solid waste, recyclables, and related materials on a daily basis. Reliability and strong work ethic, with a focus on safety and compliance. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Culver City, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
