Job Title:
EVS Technician Job Description The EVS Technician supports a major hospital facility by performing thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, hallways, and restrooms. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff, including work in surgical and treatment areas and participation in terminal cleaning procedures. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, including surfaces, floors, and fixtures, following hospital protocols and infection control standards. Clean and sanitize common areas, hallways, waiting areas, and restrooms to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Conduct general discharge cleaning of patient rooms after patients leave, ensuring rooms are properly prepared for new admissions. Carry out terminal cleaning tasks in patient care and surgical areas, adhering to detailed procedures to minimize infection risks. Work in surgical and treatment areas while following strict environmental services and safety guidelines. Sweep, mop, and deep clean floors and surfaces using appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and equipment. Remove trash and biohazard waste from assigned areas in accordance with hospital and regulatory policies. Restock supplies such as soap, paper products, and other items in restrooms and common areas. Follow established housekeeping and environmental services procedures to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Coordinate with nursing and clinical staff to prioritize cleaning needs in patient care areas. Report maintenance or safety issues observed in rooms and common areas to the appropriate personnel. Work assigned morning and afternoon shift times on variable days, including all weekends and holidays, to support continuous hospital operations. Essential Skills Experience performing cleaning, mopping, sweeping, and general housekeeping tasks in a professional setting. Experience in environmental services (EVS), custodial work, or similar roles within healthcare or large facilities. Ability to perform deep cleaning and terminal cleaning in patient care and surgical areas while following strict procedures. Comfort working in environments where patients receive treatment, including exposure to clinical and surgical settings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to hospital policies and infection control guidelines. Willingness and ability to work 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. shifts on variable days, including all weekends and holidays. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting during the shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or large institutional environment is highly beneficial. Familiarity with environmental services or housekeeping procedures in clinical or high-traffic settings. Ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff to support patient care through a clean environment. Comfort using timekeeping systems such as VMS or similar platforms for recording hours worked. Why Work Here? The role follows an evening shift schedule of 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with variable days, and requires availability to work all weekends and holidays. You will use standard housekeeping and environmental services equipment and cleaning agents while adhering to hospital safety and hygiene protocols. The setting is fast-paced, highly regulated, and focused on maintaining a safe, sanitary, and professional atmosphere for patients and staff. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, CA 91105. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
