A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Service Porter Job Purpose:
Support dealership service operations by assisting with vehicle movement, customer transportation, vehicle cleanliness, and service department organization. The Service Porter is responsible for maintaining service drive efficiency, supporting customer satisfaction, and assisting the Service Department with daily operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle & Service Drive Operations Move, park, and organize customer and dealership vehicles throughout the service department and dealership property. Assist with maintaining organization and traffic flow within the service drive and service lot areas. Safely transport vehicles between service areas, parking locations, and dealership departments as needed. Professionally apply PermaPlate vehicle-protection products to customer vehicles according to manufacturer instructions and dealership procedures. Properly handle, store, and dispose of PermaPlate products, application materials, and related chemicals in accordance with all safety requirements. Inspect completed PermaPlate applications for proper coverage, cleanliness, and overall quality before returning vehicles to customers. Install and remove protective coverings, including seat covers, steering-wheel covers, floor mats, and related service-protection materials. Monitor vehicles for cleanliness, damage, warning lights, low fuel levels, or maintenance concerns and report issues to management. Assist with vehicle fueling, battery charging, fluid checks, and basic lot-readiness tasks. Safely maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and high-traffic dealership areas. Vehicle Cleaning & Facility Support Wash, vacuum, clean, and prepare customer and dealership vehicles as needed Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the service drive, service lot, shop areas, customer lounge areas, and dealership grounds Help maintain dealership appearance standards including driveways, sidewalks, parking areas, and workspaces Assist with shop cleanliness including floors, windows, doors, trash removal, and general housekeeping tasks Support vehicle delivery preparation and service completion presentation standards Customer Service & Transportation Support Provide professional and courteous customer service during all customer interactions Transport customers to and from their home, workplace, or designated locations as requested Assist customers with vehicle pick-up and service-related transportation needs Support Service Advisors and Service Management with vehicle retrieval and operational assistance Maintain professionalism and composure while assisting customers in a fast-paced environment Assist with dealership events, promotions, and operational activities as needed Administrative & Operational Responsibilities Follow dealership policies, procedures, and safety standards Maintain accurate vehicle key control and vehicle location awareness Attend dealership meetings, training sessions, and safety training as required Uphold confidentiality regarding customer and dealership information Ensure required documentation and operational procedures are completed accurately when applicable Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required Ability to safely operate automatic transmission vehicles required Ability to safely operate manual transmission vehicles preferred Ability to safely maneuver vehicles in tight and small spaces Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and positive attitude Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Dependable attendance and punctuality required Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding customer and dealership information Ability to follow dealership policies, procedures, and safety standards Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require Preferred Qualifications Previous dealership porter or lot attendant experience preferred Previous automotive dealership or service department experience preferred Experience washing, detailing, or preparing vehicles preferred Experience transporting customers or performing shuttle services preferred Basic computer and internet proficiency preferred Experience working in high-volume dealership environments preferred Bilingual communication skills are a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and work in various physical positions Ability to frequently enter, exit, and operate vehicles throughout the workday Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 50 pounds Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment Ability to regularly use hands and fingers for vehicle preparation and operational functions Ability to safely operate dealership vehicles throughout dealership property and surrounding areas Ability to regularly perform repetitive hand, arm, and body movements during vehicle preparation, transportation, and lot activities The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
