What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

PrintCUSTODIAN JOB SUMMARY
Custodian, under supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance/Operations/Transportation and Site Principal or designee; perform a wide variety of routine and responsible tasks relating to the custodial and maintenance operation of a school site.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Application of:
District policies and procedures as they apply; Methods and practices of cleaning and repair of District equipment and furniture; Operation of tools and equipment used in all phases of school cleaning; Oral and written communication skills; Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; Proper methods and operation of equipment and tools used in custodial work.Ability to:
?Work confidentially ?See for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students ?Hear and understand speech at normal levels ?Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation ?Lift, carry, push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl ?Perform heavy physical exertion ?Lift 75-100 pounds ?Carry 50 pounds ?Reach in all directions (physically) ?Operate a variety of equipment, tools, and machines in a safe and proper manner ?Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others ?Meet schedules and deadlines ?Plan and organize vs. utilize time management and organizational skills ?Troubleshoot and repair/replace a variety of furniture and school equipment ?Clean, Scrub, Sweep, Vacuum, Wash, a variety of surfaces within the school environment ?Work at a desk, conference table or in meetings or various configurations ?Stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time ?Operate equipment ?Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and proceduresESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
May include, but are not limited to: 1.Perform a wide variety of non-technical custodial services and repair tasks; interpret and apply rules and regulations as appropriate 2.Maintains school equipment and surfaces throughout the District 3.Maintains a clean, orderly work area. Cleans, vacuums, sweeps, waxes, and maintain classrooms and other instructional areas 4.Operates a variety of cleaning equipment, tools, and machines 5.Washes chalkboards, windows, walls, and blinds 6.Maintains custodial equipment and supplies 7.May perform limited grounds maintenance work 8.May help in the kitchen as required 9.Performs related duties as assignedEducation/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; One (1) year of building custodial experience preferably in a school setting.Conditions of Employment:
Possession of a valid California Drivers License requiredSalary Range:
Q- Classified Salary Schedule Requirements / Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required: Once (1) year of building custodial experience preferably in a school setting Possession of a valid California Divers License required RUSD will complete initial reference checks and SB848 checks prior to reaching out.

- Tuberculosis clearance
- Mandated Reporter Certificate, Blood Borne Pathogen, Anti-harassment training
