Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Helping People. Changing Lives. The Custodian and Maintenance Specialist ensures the 40 Prado Homeless Services Center remains clean, safe, and fully operational. Responsibilities include janitorial services, equipment operation, facility repairs, and groundskeeping. The role also supports staff and participants by developing cleaning training materials and supervising an apprenticeship program that provides hands-on custodial and maintenance experience. This position upholds CAPSLO's mission by maintaining a healthy, comfortable environment for all clients, including families and medically vulnerable individuals. What we're looking for in the ideal candidate: One year of recent experience in performing minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, building maintenance, janitorial, landscape maintenance, or any combination of education, training, or experience which will provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of the operation of light equipment, hand tools, and tools commonly used in maintenance and repair. At least 6 months of experience in a lead or supervisory role. As a Custodian and Maintenance Specialist you will: Clean and maintain all areas of the facility, including surfaces, restrooms, floors, windows, and grounds. Perform minor repairs and routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and tools. Manage cleaning supplies inventory and maintain organized storage. Ensure safety and sanitation standards are met; follow all safety protocols. Supervise and support clients in facility chores and upkeep. Lead the Janitorial/Maintenance Apprenticeship Program, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback. Develop and update training materials and procedures for safe and effective cleaning. Coordinate with shelter leadership to align apprenticeship activities with facility needs. Track apprentice progress and promote a supportive learning environment. Collaborate with vendors for specialized repairs. Perform other duties as assigned.
