A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

This position is responsible to maintain a clean and orderly condition any designated office area or shop office area to include restrooms. Duties include cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish and performing other routine maintenance activities.
Major Responsibilities :
Perform general cleaning operations on and near any designated office and shop office area. Gather and empty trash and waste receptacles. Service, clean and supply restrooms by disinfecting wash basins, doors, partitions and solid areas of walls. Clean and fill all soap, paper and other and other dispensing equipment. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures; clean windows, glass partitions, equipment and mirrors. Clean building floors by sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, buffing or scrubbing and, as conditions require waxing and polishing tiled floor areas including lunch rooms, rest rooms and locker rooms (where it is not necessary to move heavy furniture and equipment). Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and wash soiled areas of partitions, doors and walls. Follow chemical cleaners and power equipment procedures in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Water plants in front office areas. Prepare lists of needed janitorial supplies and report pertinent information to the Maintenance Supervisor, regarding job duties, communication barriers, internal bottlenecks, and abuse of policies set forth in the employee handbook. Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
HS degree or equivalent. At least 0-2 years of custodial maintenance experience. Must be able to demonstrate ability to act independently and also follow instructions. Excellent oral, written and listening skills required to communicate well with people of all levels, skill sets, and backgrounds. Excellent organization and time management skills. Work Environment and Physical Demands Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the workday. Frequently bends, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, and twists while performing custodial duties. Frequently lifts, carry, pushes, and pull materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds , with or without reasonable accommodation. Custodial equipment regularly operates and works in environments exposed to dust, cleaning chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures. Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely navigate production, warehouse, office, and outdoor work areas. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR). Fluency in English. Secondary language skills a plus.
Hourly Rate:
