$300.00 / 8.0 hr day , pro-rated based on assigned daily work hours

District Objective:
Ventura Unified School District is establishing a pool of temporary workers who may be called upon to support essential school operations and student services during a potential strike or other labor-related work stoppage. Temporary Work Stoppage Support Staff may be assigned to custodial services, food services and child nutrition, paraprofessional or student support, campus supervision, or clerical and office support. Assignments will be made according to District needs, applicant qualifications, and availability. These temporary assignments are intended to help VUSD maintain safe campuses and continue essential services for students during a work stoppage. Individuals selected for this pool must be willing to report for temporary work during such a work stoppage and support the continuity of essential services for VUSD students and schools. Applicants who are unwilling to accept work during a strike or other labor-related work stoppage should not apply for this recruitment. 5 AVAILABLE
ASSIGNMENT AREAS
Applicants may indicate interest in one or more of the following areas: Custodial Services Food Services and Child Nutrition Paraprofessional and Student Support Campus Supervision Clerical and Office Support Nursing/Health Services Other as needed, maintenance and transportation
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Duties will vary depending on the assignment and may include: Custodial Services Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and other District facilities. Set up and move furniture, equipment, and supplies. Perform routine cleaning and sanitation work. Identify and report safety or maintenance concerns. Food Services and Child Nutrition Assist with preparing, packaging, serving, and distributing student meals. Clean and sanitize food-service areas, equipment, and utensils. Receive, organize, and move food and supplies. Follow applicable food-safety and sanitation procedures. Paraprofessional and Student Support Assist with student supervision and structured learning activities under the direction of authorized District personnel. Support students in classrooms or other assigned areas. Assist students with routines, transitions, and access to school activities. Perform only those specialized student-support duties for which the employee has been appropriately trained and authorized. Campus Supervision Supervise students in classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, playgrounds, arrival and dismissal areas, and other assigned locations. Reinforce school rules and established safety procedures. Direct students and visitors to appropriate locations. Promptly report safety, behavioral, or emergency concerns. Clerical and Office Support Answer telephones and assist students, families, employees, and visitors. Perform data entry, filing, copying, recordkeeping, and general office duties. Support student attendance, reception, communications, and distribution of materials. Protect confidential student and employee information Nursing / Health Services Provide nursing and health-related services to students within the scope of the employee's license and District protocols. Assess student health needs and respond to illness, injury, and medical emergencies. Administer medications and perform authorized medical procedures. Maintain confidential student health records and communicate with parents, staff, and emergency personnel as appropriate. Support students with individualized healthcare plans and other documented medical needs. Requires a current California LVN or RN license and applicable certifications.
ASSIGNMENT CONDITIONS
Work will be available only if needed during a potential work stoppage. Placement in the temporary worker pool does not guarantee an assignment or a minimum number of hours. Assignments may begin or end on short notice. Assignments may be for a partial day, full day, or multiple consecutive days. Work hours may include early mornings, regular school hours, afternoons, evenings, or other shifts needed to maintain District operations. Employees may be assigned to different schools, departments, duties, or work schedules based on operational needs and qualifications. The duration of a work stoppage cannot be predicted. Temporary employment may end when the work stoppage concludes or when the District no longer requires the assignment. Employees must follow all District policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and directions from designated supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must: Be at least 18 years of age. Possess the education, experience, training, certification, or permit required for the assigned duties. Communicate effectively and follow oral and written directions. Work cooperatively with students, families, employees, and members of the public. Demonstrate reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt to changing assignments. Perform the essential physical duties of the assignment, with or without reasonable accommodation. Complete all required preemployment clearances before beginning work. Some assignments may require additional qualifications, including a high school diploma or equivalent, food-handler certification, paraprofessional qualifications, first-aid or CPR certification, or prior experience working with students.
