OF JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform housekeeping services to maintain a clean and safe environment for students and staff. Maintain an attractive appearance for all buildings (e.g. bathrooms, classrooms, hallways, offices, etc.).
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS
To peiform this job successfully, an individual must be able to peifonn each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required of the position. Inspect and report to the supervisor the need to replace/repair materials and small equipment and report any maintenance needs and complete minor maintenance including, but not limited to the following:
  • School inspection for general conditions, site safety and possible hazards.
  • Monitor central plant, boilers - maintain logbook and report unacceptable variations
  • Help facilities personnel when required
  • Maintain custodial closets, equipment and supplies in an orderly manner
  • Change lamps, diffusers, switch/cover plates, burned out bulbs
  • Manage, store & move and furniture and equipment
  • Plunge/auger toilets and drains
  • Clean and complete minor repairs on custodial equipment
  • Replace ceiling tiles
  • Complete painting projects
  • Monitor and report exterior lighting outages D 2.
Clean school classrooms, wastebaskets. doors, windows, chalkboards, trays, floors and counters and empty and reline D 3. Establish and maintain effective communication with students, staff, and the public. D 4. Mop or buff hallways, offices, gymnasiums, cafeterias, classrooms and other areas of the building according to an established schedule. D 5. Clean the building offices and lounges according to an established schedule. D 6. Clean and disinfect all building restrooms according to an established schedule. D 7. Identify and utilize correct cleaning materials as directed by supervisor. D 8. Dust mop or vacuum the gymnasium floors according to an established schedule. After any activities, clean and push back bleachers, or put away chairs. D 9. Complete cleaning tasks and special projects after special events and during vacation periods. M 10. Cleaning areas in accordance with schedule including but not limited to the following:
  • Wash all painted wall surfaces
  • Wash all lockers inside and outside
  • Wash all shelves, counter tops, cabinet doors, sinks
  • Wash all classroom door, door jambs, window sills
  • Wash windows inside and outside
  • Clean traps and drains and add water/enzymes
  • Remove and wash light fixture covers and tubes
  • Clean inside teacher office area
  • Wash window blinds with soap and water
  • Shampoo carpets
  • Strip wax from tile areas, re-wax and buff
  • Wash all trash cans
  • Strip wax and re-wax gymnasium floors D
  • Assist in school and district-wide cleaning functions and special requirements and other functions as directed.
  • Use proper procedures and chemicals to clean bio-hazards
  • Setup and teardown and clean after special events.
Setups may require moving and rearranging furniture and other items required for the function. 11. Secure buildin_g at end of work shift D 12. Complete all work tasks in a safe manner. D 13. Assist building staff during fire drills or emergencies. D 14. Security and needs for after school/night events. D 15. Snow removal at doorways & walkways. 16.
