A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Summary of Position:
Your services as substitutes are critical to maintaining the educational progress of students and helping the district fulfill its mission of educating and preparing each student to succeed in a changing world. Substitute staff replace regular employees for a short period of time, sometimes for long periods of time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To support teachers and staff and enable each student to pursue his/her education. Essential functions include but are not limited to: Help support students and staff where and when needed as assigned All other duties as assigned
Education/Certification:
N/A Fingerprinting and background checks are required for all classified substitutes
Experience:
Prior classroom experience and/or working with children preferred (if substituting as a paraprofessional) Medical experience preferred (if substituting as a health tech) •Candidate may contact a school nurse for potential training opportunities Prior cleaning experience preferred (if substituting as a custodian) Prior office experience preferred (if substituting as a secretary)
Knowledge of and Abilities:
Report to the school office following the scheduled time in Absence Management Ability to multitask Critical thinking skills Detail oriented Punctual and reliable attendance Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Patience Flexibility
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important. The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Special Education may require the ability to exert more than 25 pounds. This type of work involves sitting, walking, and/or standing. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Work a minimum of 10 days during the school year (August - May)
