Who We Are Good Child Development Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been providing excellence in childcare for 56 years. Located in the heart of Milford, Connecticut, we house children ages 6 weeks to 6 years in a beautiful building specifically designed for early childhood education. Our NAEYC accredited center applies a play to learn methodology and focuses on meeting every child's developmental and social-emotional needs. We are proud to serve families of all backgrounds, ethnicities and affiliations in an all inclusive environment. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian/Maintenance Worker to keep our facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained as well as support our Chef with meal preparation and dishes. This vital role ensures that our environment remains welcoming, hygienic, and fully functional for staff, visitors, children and families alike. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic to handle a variety of cleaning tasks with enthusiasm and precision. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of all areas including offices, restrooms, hallways, classrooms and common spaces using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment Conduct janitorial duties such as trash removal, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold high standards of cleanliness Carry out custodial responsibilities involving industrial cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning of machinery or specialized areas when needed Support chef with meal preparation, washing and sanitizing dishes and bringing food to classrooms Use commercial cleaning tools and equipment safely and effectively while adhering to safety protocols Transport food to our other location in Orange CT with the company car Qualifications ServSafe is a plus Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings preferred Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow safety guidelines diligently Ability support kitchen functions like meal preparation and dishwashing and sanitizing Excellent time management skills to complete tasks efficiently within scheduled hours Physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods Benefits Health Insurance Dental Insurance Paid Holidays PTO after 60 days 401k
