As a critical member of The Towers at Tower Lane's Housekeeping Team, the Porter will help lead these values by performing general cleaning and repairs to ensure that the grounds and buildings of The Towers at Tower Lane are well maintained. The majority of this role will be focused on our newly renovated Display Kitchen and dining area of our building. Work is performed in accordance with established routines and specific instructions. Some Essential Job Functions of this position are: Promote an atmosphere of caring, warmth, and friendliness throughout The Towers at Tower Lane. Sweep and wash floors; vacuum and shampoo carpeting; clean walls, ceilings and woodwork, empty waste baskets and recycle bins, remove trash, wash windows, clean elevators, stairways, other common areas and other areas as assigned and shovel snow as required. Police grounds (i.e. pick up debris, clean up cigarette butts, sweep sidewalks, place trash containers in proper locations, etc.). Clean common area restrooms and replenish supplies. Clean, dust, vacuum, and clean window furnishings in all offices. Polish furniture and clean walls and doors. Prepare vacant apartments as required. Be available to aid housekeeping and maintenance teams during snowstorms, natural disasters, or other special circumstances. Perform setups for special and daily events (i.e., bingo, speakers, parties, holidays, etc.). Ensure that room set-ups are correctly executed and completed on-time. Perform all duties of housekeepers as assigned. Complete work order paperwork to document tasks completed, materials used, time to complete tasks, etc. Complete work assignments in a timely manner and at the level of quality determined by the Housekeeping Supervisor. Maintain and use all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Organize, maintain and notify supervisor of when supplies need to be reordered. Perform other assignments/special projects from time to time as authorized by the Housekeeping Supervisor, Director of Operations, or President/CEO. Keep work area safe, neat, organized and clean. Leave work area and equipment clean and in good operating condition for the next co-worker. Assist co-workers, residents, visitors and volunteers in a respectful and dignified manner. Provide excellent customer service and refer inquiries/issues to appropriate resources. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, Trade School, or Vocational School degree. Minimum one year housekeeping/maintenance experience. Experience in an eldercare or geriatric environment preferred. Good verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. High degree of attention to detail. Ability to work on multiple tasks during the course of a day. Working knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, and equipment. Ability to use cleaning machines and related equipment.
