Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold sanitation standards. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners efficiently and safely. Handle chemical agents with care, following all chemical handling safety procedures to ensure safe usage and storage. Conduct heavy lifting tasks using proper safe lifting practices to move furniture, equipment, or supplies as needed. Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to ensure a polished appearance. Follow all safety protocols during custodial activities to prevent accidents and promote a secure work environment. Assist with basic facilities maintenance tasks when required, including minor repairs or reporting issues promptly. Qualifications Prior janitorial or custodial experience is preferred; familiarity with commercial or industrial cleaning is a plus. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation procedures, and the proper handling of chemical agents. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and facility users. Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers or industrial vacuums is advantageous. Basic understanding of facilities maintenance or Porter experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
