Role:
We are seeking an experienced, dependable independent contractor to provide commercial floor-care and related cleaning services at grocery store locations. This opportunity includes routine floor maintenance as well as occasional specialty projects. Responsibilities Sweep and dust-mop sales floors, produce areas, vestibules, cart corrals, and other assigned areas. Clean around counters, checkout stands, shelves, displays, gondolas, and other obstructions. Remove gum, stickers, dirt, and foreign substances from floors. Operate an automatic floor scrubber on resilient tile, polished concrete, and other approved surfaces. Hand-mop areas that cannot be reached with the scrubber. Burnish approved floors using a propane burnisher when required. Vacuum entrance mats and carpet tiles and perform spot cleaning. Lift, shake, flip, and clean floor mats in produce and entrance areas. Apply deicing neutralizer during winter weather when needed. Clean and sanitize customer and employee restrooms, including floors, partitions, fixture areas, toilets, urinals, sinks, and mirrors. Empty trash, replace liners, and replenish restroom paper supplies. Sweep and mop break rooms, hallways, and stairs where applicable. Keep the assigned porter/storage area clean and orderly. Empty and clean the automatic scrubber before leaving the location. Perform specialty floor projects when assigned, including deep scrubbing, recoating, stripping, refinishing, and polished-concrete maintenance. Follow all product instructions, floor-specific procedures, and applicable OSHA safety requirements. Avoid burnishing or applying floor finish to plank-style tile or any surface not approved for those treatments.
Requirements:
Prior janitorial, custodial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation procedures, and safety protocols Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented work ethic Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong time management skills to complete tasks efficiently
