Elementary School Custodian

Loving Hearts, Innovative Minds, Faith-Filled Spirits Catholic Academy of Waterbury (CAW) is looking for a part-time school custodian responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This job involves a variety of maintenance, repair, custodial, and operational tasks to support the daily functions of the school and its facilities. This person will report directly to the principal.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures, along with the Administration, that the mission of Catholic Academy of Waterbury and the Catholic identity of the school are clearly articulated and carried out to all constituents. Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on school facilities and structural components. Inspect facilities for safety hazards or maintenance needs and report issues to the principal. Maintain school grounds. Ensure walkways and parking lots are safe and free of hazards, including snow and ice. Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities. Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed. Ensure proper functioning of school security systems, including locks and alarms. Adhere to health and safety standards and regulations. Ensure that cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment are used and stored safely. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize tasks effectively. Collaborate with staff, contractors, and vendors to resolve facility-related issues.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid CT driver's license. Prior experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, or related field preferred. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting objects and working in various weather conditions. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
