A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

The Town of Wethersfield is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented professional to join our custodial team. Under the direct supervision of the Head Custodian, this role involves maintenance and general cleaning duties and maintenance at Wethersfield High School.

Examples of Specific Duties:

Cleaning classrooms, hallways, lobbies, meeting areas, restrooms, offices, and other assigned spaces. Remove and dispose of trash in exterior dumpsters and restock restroom supplies as needed. Complete minor maintenance and repair tasks, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events and activities. Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent; One-year prior custodial experience Considerable knowledge and experience of modern cleaning methods, materials, tools and equipment.
