Job Title:
Custodial Worker - 3rd Shift Job Description This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment across multiple campus buildings during the 3rd shift. You will perform a full range of custodial duties according to defined standards, operate floor care equipment, and support students, staff, and faculty by ensuring facilities remain orderly and presentable. You will work as part of a team, adapt to varying building schedules, and represent the organization with professionalism and competence. Responsibilities Maintain assigned areas to defined custodial standards across multiple campus buildings. Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces. Operate floor care equipment such as scrubbers and waxers to clean and maintain floors. Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables from offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas. Clean and restock restrooms, ensuring sanitary and presentable conditions at all times. Support housekeeping and environmental services functions as needed across the campus. Adapt to various building schedules and occupancy levels while maintaining consistent service quality. Work efficiently and effectively in a team-driven environment, coordinating tasks with coworkers. Respond to custodial requests and issues in a timely and professional manner. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while using equipment, chemicals, and cleaning supplies. Travel between buildings as required, using a valid driver's license and maintaining a safe driving record. Work overtime when requested by supervision to support operational needs. Uphold the mission and values of the institution, demonstrating sensitivity to issues of ethnicity, disability, and diversity. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED. Ability to perform custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, and environmental services duties, including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing. Ability to operate floor scrubbers and waxers safely and effectively. Experience with trash removal and general custodial workflows. Willingness and ability to work the 3rd shift schedule (typically 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.). Ability to work overtime when requested by supervision. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to travel between buildings. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team-driven environment. Professionalism and competency when interacting with students, staff, and faculty. Sensitivity to issues of ethnicity, disability, and diversity. Commitment to supporting the mission of a small, Catholic, liberal arts institution. Work Environment This position is based on a university campus, working in multiple student- and staff-occupied buildings. The schedule is a 3rd shift role, typically 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with a half-hour unpaid lunch. Until the end of the summer session, the shift will run from Sunday through Wednesday. You will work in classrooms, offices, restrooms, corridors, and common areas, using custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, waxers, vacuums, and standard cleaning tools and supplies. The environment is team-oriented and service-focused, requiring movement between buildings and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards. The dress code consists of a red or maroon top (polo or shirt), dark pants, and sneakers. A uniform will be provided after approximately one to two weeks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Center Valley, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
