Job Description This role performs routine building cleaning tasks and related work to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly facility. You carry out manual cleaning duties that follow established procedures, including heavy cleaning tasks, and operate equipment such as floor buffers and carpet shampoo machines to ensure all areas meet cleanliness and appearance standards. Responsibilities Perform routine building cleaning tasks in accordance with established procedures and schedules. Carry out heavy cleaning duties such as mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, and dusting in offices, classrooms, conference rooms, and common areas. Remove bulk trash and recyclable materials, using mechanical equipment when necessary, and ensure proper disposal or placement in designated collection areas. Set up rooms for conferences, meetings, and events, including arranging tables, chairs, and other furnishings as requested. Arrange and reset classrooms and conference rooms to specified layouts, ensuring spaces are clean, organized, and ready for use. Operate floor buffers, carpet shampoo machines, and other power-cleaning equipment safely and effectively after proper training. Maintain clean and sanitary restrooms, break rooms, and high-traffic areas by replenishing supplies and performing frequent cleaning as needed. Inspect assigned areas for cleanliness and safety, reporting any maintenance issues, damages, or hazards to the appropriate personnel. Follow all safety guidelines and use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment according to instructions and training. Work collaboratively with other custodial staff to complete daily tasks and support special projects or events as required. Adhere to established policies, procedures, and quality standards to ensure a consistent and high level of service. Essential Skills Ability to perform routine building cleaning tasks following established procedures. Capability to carry out heavy cleaning duties, including frequent mopping, sweeping, lifting, and moving materials. Ability to routinely move, lift, and carry, with or without assistance, equipment, parts, and job-related materials exerting up to and including 50 pounds of force. Willingness and ability to learn to operate power-cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and carpet shampoo machines. Experience or aptitude in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or environmental services work. Ability to handle general labor tasks in a cleaning or facilities environment. Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and proper room setup. Reliability and punctuality to support consistent coverage across assigned shifts. Ability to follow safety instructions and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or environmental services roles. Familiarity with mopping, sweeping, and other standard cleaning methods in commercial or institutional settings. Experience setting up and arranging rooms for conferences, classrooms, or meetings. Comfort working with mechanical equipment used for bulk trash and recycling removal. Strong work ethic and willingness to perform general labor tasks as needed. Work Environment This position operates in a building facilities environment focused on cleanliness, safety, and reliable service. You work with standard janitorial tools and supplies, as well as power-cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet shampoo machines, and mechanical equipment for bulk trash and recycling removal. Multiple openings are available across different schedules, including Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as Wednesday through Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional shift options include daytime schedules such as 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and various Tuesday-Saturday and Wednesday-Sunday patterns, along with a night shift from Sunday to Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials up to 50 pounds, and requires comfort working in a hands-on, physically active environment where cleanliness and order are a daily priority. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
