Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Janitors and Cleaners will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk.
Key Responsibilities:
Floor Maintenance:
Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish hard flooring surfaces using industrial-grade cleaning tools and solutions. Vacuum carpets and rugs to remove dust, debris, and stains, utilizing appropriate equipment for specific flooring types.
Surface Cleaning:
Perform thorough dusting and wiping of horizontal and vertical surfaces, including desks, countertops, windowsills, and other fixtures, ensuring all areas are free from dust, smudges, and fingerprints.
Waste Management:
Collect, transport, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas, replacing liners in waste receptacles and maintaining cleanliness around disposal areas.
Restroom Sanitization:
Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Replenish restroom supplies such as toilet paper, hand towels, and soap dispensers regularly.
Disinfection Tasks:
Apply appropriate disinfectants to high-touch surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, and elevator buttons) to reduce contamination risks and maintain hygienic conditions.
Window and Glass Cleaning:
Clean and polish interior windows, mirrors, and glass partitions to remove streaks and smudges, ensuring a clear and pristine appearance.
Routine Inspections:
Conduct routine inspections of designated areas to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met and report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
Equipment Care:
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as industrial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaning machines. Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning supplies and equipment.
Inventory Management:
