Job Description
The City of Lake Worth Beach seeks a Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming municipal buildings and public facilities. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, restroom sanitation, basic floor care, and restocking supplies. The Custodian sets up rooms for meetings and events, performs light cleaning of offices and public areas, and reports maintenance issues or safety hazards. This role supports a collaborative, community-focused team, interacting respectfully with staff and visitors while following safety, security, and cleaning protocols in a public service environment. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, and public areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, surfaces, and fixtures Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from interior and exterior receptacles Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed Set up and break down rooms, furniture, and equipment for meetings and events Perform basic floor care, including spot cleaning and minor stain removal Report maintenance issues, damages, and safety hazards to supervisors Secure doors, windows, and facilities as directed at opening and closing Follow safety procedures and proper use of chemicals and equipment Provide courteous assistance to staff, residents, and visitors in public facilities Required Skills Custodial cleaning procedures Floor care (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) Restroom sanitation Trash and recycling handling Safe chemical handling Use of custodial equipment (buffers, vacuums) Basic safety and OSHA awareness Room and event set-up Time management Reporting maintenance issues
