What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Under the general supervision of Recreation Superintendent, performs a wide range of custodial tasks of routine difficulty involving the use of cleaning equipment and materials and set-up. Performs other work as required. Sweeps, mops, polishes and vacuums. Washes walls, windows, woodwork, and mirrors. Cleans all rest rooms and fixtures: checks and stocks supplies; ensures that all lavatory installations are working and reports those that need repair. Removes and disposes of all rubbish and trash in designated areas. Sets up and breaks down tables and chairs for scheduled events. Cleans outdoor grounds and removal of rubbish.
