Big Bend Hospice is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Environmental Services Technician (Custodian) to join our team on a weekend schedule . In hospice, every detail matters. A clean, safe, comfortable environment helps create a welcoming space for our staff, volunteers, patients, and families. Hours:
9:00 AM - 5:30 PM This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a consistent weekend schedule and meaningful work. What You'll Do You'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout Big Bend Hospice , including our administrative facilities and Hospice Inpatient Unit (IPU) .
Your responsibilities will include:
Cleaning and disinfecting Hospice Inpatient Unit patient rooms , including cleaning high-touch surfaces and ensuring rooms are clean, comfortable, and ready for patients and families Cleaning and sanitizing IPU common areas , including hallways, waiting areas, family spaces, kitchens/break rooms, restrooms, and other shared areas Cleaning and maintaining administrative offices, common areas, and other facility spaces Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors throughout assigned areas Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures Dusting and cleaning furniture, surfaces, windows, glass, and mirrors Maintaining kitchen and break room areas Emptying trash and handling waste appropriately Replenishing restroom, housekeeping, and cleaning supplies Following established infection control, cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures , particularly within the Hospice Inpatient Unit Properly using cleaning products, equipment, and PPE Performing periodic deep-cleaning tasks as assigned Assisting with meeting room and event setup and cleanup Responding promptly to spills, accidents, and other urgent cleaning needs Reporting maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, leaks, or safety hazards to the supervisor Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies in an organized and safe manner Working respectfully and professionally around patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and healthcare team members What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Reliable. What You'll Need High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous custodial, housekeeping, or janitorial experience is helpful, but not required Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Basic understanding of workplace safety and infection control practices Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods Ability to use basic technology, including email and an electronic timekeeping app Ability to work independently and as part of a team Why This Work Matters At Big Bend Hospice, environmental services isn't simply about cleaning.
