POSITION

Custodian (188 Days) for the 2026-2027 School Year

July 27, 2026•can start as a sub for the remainder of the 2025-2026 School Year

Job Description:

Must be flexible to work necessary hours•day or night shift. Keep school in a clean and orderly condition. Mop, buff and wax school floors. Empty trash in offices and classrooms on a daily basis. Vacuum on a daily basis. Clean and sanitize restrooms on a daily basis. Assist in maintaining the inventory of custodian supplies, tools and materials for use in the school. Assist in lifting and moving heavy objects and furniture as required. Assist in setting up facilities for programs, meetings, etc as required. Communicate effectively with staff members, students, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Function as a team worker and contribute to department success. Present a professional image when representing the school system through word, action and dress. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or principal.

Education, Certification or Training:

High school diploma or equivalent, GED preferred.

Skills:

Ability to understand chemical hazards. Ability to work independently without supervision. Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, kneel and stand on a regular basis. Must be able to lift/carry fifty (50) pounds frequently and up to one hundred (100) pounds occasionally. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to organize and priortize. Ability to work harmoniously with others.

Experience:

Previous custodial training or experience preferred but not required. The Bartow County Board of Education reserves the right to accept equivalent qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable.
