A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Job Summary:
Incumbent provides support to primary classroom staff by rotating within the Center to allow teaching team members to take breaks while still maintaining the appropriate staff to student ratio.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Rotate between classrooms within the Center, providing breaks for primary classroom staff. Provide support to classroom teaching staff to maintain required ratio, in the absence of a regular Substitute or Teacher Assistant Assist teaching staff with set up and clean up related to meal services. Wash, dry and fold clothes and linens for classrooms Always demonstrate safe and sanitary food handling practices. Keep the kitchen free of health and safety hazards; report and eliminate them when appropriate to prevent injury and/or the spread of illness. Always maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including but not limited to; work areas, storage areas, equipment, supplies, serving and eating utensils. Prepare and package meals and snacks for delivery to the individual classrooms. Deliver meals and snacks to the individual classrooms in compliance with an established meal service schedule. Assist with trash & waste removal following each meal service. Wash dishes after meals, clean kitchen on a daily and weekly schedule, and maintain a sanitary kitchen environment. Serve as ancillary support to other staff members in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the classrooms, restrooms, and other common areas of the facility (containing and/or mopping up spills and removing debris, etc.) Provide general cleaning and upkeep of the building as assigned (in conjunction with center staff) including daily cleaning of restrooms; sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping of floors; wiping down surfaces; and cleaning windows. Center Family Support Manager Minimum Requirements:
Minimum High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred. Minimum one year experience with children ages birth to three years of age
