A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Clean and maintain assigned areas, including offices, restrooms, conference rooms, break rooms, and common areas. Replenish supplies as needed. Follow cleaning procedures and protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Use industrial cleaning equipment and chemicals to effectively clean surfaces. Perform floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor. Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in hospital cleaning, commercial cleaning or custodial work is preferred. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and procedures. Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and carpet cleaners. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
