A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

STRUCTURE

Works under the direction of the Principal

QUALIFICATIONS

Sufficient education to read, write and perform basic arithmetic is required. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Applicants should be able to work well in a school environment, perform assigned duties, and cooperate with others on the custodial staff. An extensive background check is performed if hired.

JOB DUTIES

Essential duties include but are not limited to: Sweep, mop, and wax floors Clean and disinfect restrooms Clean windows and blinds Empty waste containers Move furniture and equipment as needed Other duties may be assigned
