Job Description
ABILITIES
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Ability to lead by example and work collaboratively with a small custodial team. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 30 pounds unassisted and standing or walking for extended periods. Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment safely while recognizing potential hazards. Ability to work extended hours performing manual labor as operational needs require. Ability to properly care for and maintain assigned custodial equipment. Ability to respond calmly and effectively to custodial emergencies.KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of standard custodial practices, techniques, and procedures for maintaining cleaning and sanitation standards. Knowledge of floor care methods, including stripping, finishing, burnishing, and carpet extraction. Familiarity with the safe and effective operation of custodial equipment, including automatic scrubbers, carpet extractors, vacuums, window cleaning tools, high dusters, low-speed buffers, high-speed burnishers, gas blowers, and no-touch restroom machines. Understanding of cleaning chemicals, their proper application, associated hazards, and safe handling procedures. Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and the use and interpretation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS). SKILLS Skill in training and guiding custodial staff on work methods, equipment use, and safety practices. Skill in organizing work assignments, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining daily operational coverage. Skill in performing a wide range of custodial and floor care tasks efficiently and accurately. Skill in basic supervision, including observing performance, addressing routine issues, and communicating concerns to a supervisor. Effective verbal communication skills for providing instructions and reporting information clearly.
