Woodstock, GA Job Details Full-time $22.29 - $25.00 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Disability insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Pension plan Vision insurance Gym membership Life insurance Qualifications English High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description This position is responsible for the day-to-day handling of the property and evidence stored in the property/evidence repository of the Woodstock Police Department (WPD). Handles discovery requests for cases and assists with open records requests, specifically for video stored in the evidence library and the redaction of those videos for public release.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintains all records pertaining to the receipt, storage, and disposition of all property and evidence. Maintains an accurate inventory of all property and evidence. Completes Orders of Destruction for the Judge as needed. Disposes of all property and evidence in accordance with federal and state laws and agency policies and procedures. Processes and transports evidence to the crime lab as needed. Reports any agency policy and procedure violations involving evidence handling and property storage by other employees. Oversee the handling of evidence and property to show continuity in the chain of custody and security. Performs routine clerical duties to include, but not limited to: logging in materials and documents; entering data and information into computerized files; filing and retrieving materials from manual or computerized filing systems; and typing correspondence, memos, and other short documents and sorting documents. Prepares evidence for trials. Testifies in court when subpoenaed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented with two years of college in law enforcement, criminal justice, or paralegal studies; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Requires a valid State of Georgia driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR). Requires evidence and property-related certifications/education, such as Managing the Evidence Room, or equivalent.
Special Requirements:
Must have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories; must be able to read and write English. Must submit to a background investigation, including a CVSA examination and credit report assessment. All background items must conform the hiring practices and standards of the Woodstock Police Department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment. Some skill in the operation of most of the tools and equipment listed Be willing to attend additional training when available that is applicable to the job functions. Skill in blue book redaction rules and retention schedules. Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing. Skill in working with computers and MS Office including Word. Skill in providing customer service. Skill in modern office machines, and recording systems. Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to learn the City's geography. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to multi-task in a demanding work environment. Physical Demands The work is light work and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately noisy. Work requires being available for assigned shifts, including evenings and weekends, as well as for on-call status when scheduled.

Starting Base Pay Rate Range:
