A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

LEAD CUSTODIAN BLUE GRASS ELEMENTARY
3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (day shift when school not in session)

Entry Level Rate $20.62/hr. Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit, please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the bargaining unit.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Trash removal
Restrooms
Clean glass
Dust horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
Cleans carpets and hard flooring
Assist with deep cleaning during break periods-strips, scrubs & recoats. Carpet extraction, cleans restrooms, glass and furniture
Remove snow / cut grass / minor grounds keeping
Assist with delivery of supplies
Properly use and maintain equipment per owner's manual and or direction from maintenance staff
Operates all energy consuming devices in the most efficient manner striving to attain maximum energy conservation
Monitors HVAC system and reports problems to maintenance via work orders
Make minor repairs to equipment, building, furniture, hardware, windows etc..
Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance department
Responsible for closing and securing building
Must establish and maintain a satisfactory working relationship with teachers, students and fellow employees
Must treat fellow workers with respect and facilitate a non-hostile work environment
Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements of Position:

Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.
Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks

Must have high school degree or GED
Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks
Have a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment
Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders.
