Construction Cleaner Job Description This role supports large-scale construction projects by providing critical environmental and construction cleaning services at a data center site in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will perform detailed interior and exterior cleaning during active construction, working closely alongside other trades and equipment to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Responsibilities Clean all exposed interior surfaces within the construction area from the floor to the building deck above. Perform detailed cleaning tasks including mopping, wiping, vacuuming, and brushing surfaces to remove dust and dirt from materials as they are built and installed. Use scissor lifts and boom poles to clean hard-to-reach areas safely and effectively. Clean and maintain interior surfaces such as beams, walls, installed equipment, and other structural components. Pressure wash exterior panels once installed, as well as generator coverings, flooring, and other designated surfaces. Work safely and attentively around active construction activities, remaining alert to equipment, trades, and changing site conditions at all times. Perform tasks while standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, and working from ladders for extended periods. Follow all site safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to construction site rules. Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including during power washing activities throughout the winter. Collaborate and communicate effectively while working in small teams of 4-5 to complete assigned cleaning and environmental tasks. Check in daily at the site guard shack and follow established procedures for site access and movement around the construction area. Maintain tools and equipment such as brooms, towels, pressure washers, and lifts in a clean and safe working condition. Essential Skills At least 1+ years of experience in a labor-intensive or general labor role. Experience working in construction, cleaning, janitorial, mitigation, restoration, or environmental remediation environments. Ability to work safely around active construction, other trades, scissor lifts, and heavy equipment. Ability to stand and perform physical work for 10+ hours per day, including bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Valid driver's license. Ability to work in hot and cold environments and in all weather conditions, including rain or shine. Ability to follow safety procedures and use hand tools and cleaning equipment correctly. Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in small crews of 4-5 people. Ability to remain alert and attentive while working around active construction equipment and ongoing installation work. Additional Skills & Qualifications in construction is highly beneficial to understand working alongside other trades and heavy equipment. Experience with scissor lifts and other aerial work platforms is an advantage. Familiarity with environmental remediation, mitigation, or restoration work is a plus. Completion of HAZWOPER or similar safety training is beneficial. Ability to commit to a long-term project and willingness to travel to future project sites after the current project concludes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
