- Conduct visual inspections of mechanical rooms, pumps, fans, lighting, and electrical systems; report deficiencies and coordinate service calls as required.
- Perform painting, and repair work across the building.
- Monitor greenhouse systems including fans, timers, alarms, thermostats, and screens.
- Assist with calibration and service of laboratory equipment (temperature tracking, analytical balances, compressed gas tanks, regulators, gauges, etc.). B. Janitorial and Sanitation Services
- Perform daily and weekly cleaning of laboratories, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize seed and grain testing equipment and work areas by:
- Maintain and operate commercial dishwasher; monitor wash/rinse temperatures and soap concentrations.
- Sanitize seed lab work surfaces, counting boards, weight pans, and hand tools between sample sets and at end of day to prevent carryover contamination.
- Handle waste segregation and disposal (biological, glass, sharps, and chemical) in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
- Periodically deep-clean laboratory and greenhouse areas using approved methods and disinfectants.
- Operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, and cleaning machinery safely.
- Maintain janitorial supplies inventory; prepare reorder requests for consumables. C. Documentation and Compliance
- Complete all required logs and maintenance records (calibration records and equipment sanitation logs).
- Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files and chemical use documentation per
OSHA 29 CFR
1910.1200 and 1910.1020 (30-year retention).- Participate in internal ISO audits and maintain readiness for facility inspections.
- Follow written SOPs for cleaning, disinfection, maintenance, and safety. D. Safety and Quality
- Maintain awareness of electrical and chemical hazards; ensure PPE is worn at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately Manager or Department Director
- Participate in safety training and emergency response planning. E. General Support
- Set up and tear down meeting rooms, events, or training areas as needed.
- Assist contractors and inspectors on site.
- Perform sidewalk snow removal, minor groundskeeping, and minor landscape upkeep.
- Provide backup support for shipping/receiving or facility logistics as requested.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade school certificate preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or janitorial services (scientific, healthcare, or industrial environment preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with chemical handling, disinfectants, and SDS compliance.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals.
- Competence with hand tools and power equipment.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry, work orders, and recordkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work from ladders if needed. Work Environment
- Primarily indoor laboratory, greenhouse, and office environment.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and laboratory disinfectants (with appropriate PPE).
- May involve occasional weekend or after-hours work for cleaning. Performance Metrics
- Timely completion of preventive maintenance tasks.
- Compliance with cleaning/disinfection schedules and recordkeeping accuracy.
- Audit findings (zero nonconformities related to facility or safety systems).
- Reliability and responsiveness to staff service requests.
- Positive inspection outcomes from ISO, safety, and regulatory reviews. Typical Schedule Monday-Friday, 10 a.m

$15.00- $18.
