Store Manager/General Manager Job Summary:

The Custodian is accountable for the stores overall cleanliness and condition. S/he must maintain and clean the entire store, completing hourly walks and inspections. S/he must have a complete knowledge, proper handling, and storage of all cleaning equipment. Her/his main focus is to ensure all customers shop in a clean and safe environment. Essential Job Responsibilities Must possess the knowledge and training of how to effectively use and maintain all cleaning equipment. Effectively complete hourly and daily sweep logs. Ensure a clean, presentable, safe, and hazard free environment for all customers and employees. Must maintain all trash containers, spills, restrooms, and overall sales-floor. Perform all clean-up duties that are required in quickly and efficiently. Assist with actual store operation activities such as stocking shelves, assisting with customers, and cleaning, depending upon business needs. Other duties as assigned. Education/Certifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment. Must have a valid and up to date Food Handlers Certificate. Must have above average cash handling and basic math/calculating skills. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service. Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members. Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups. Work Environment/ Physical Demands Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs. Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff. Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing. Must have reliable source of transportation. All positions are eligible for Overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed Overtime available. Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15•18 Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $16.60•18
