ABOUT THE ROLE

The Custodian - Specialized Daytime Cleaner is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and professional office areas within a secured customer facility in downtown Indianapolis. This position performs general office cleaning within restricted areas of the building, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, restroom cleaning, disinfecting, trash removal, and other routine custodial duties as directed. Because this position works within restricted federal office space, the selected candidate must successfully complete an extensive Federal Clearance background process before being approved to work in the assigned areas. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in delivering quality work, follows instructions carefully, and demonstrates the professionalism and reliability required to work within a secured customer environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect, and maintain floors and building surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas. Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, fixtures, and other assigned areas. Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed. Respond to routine cleaning requests and other facility service needs. Safely use commercial cleaning products, tools, and equipment. Maintain cleanliness and professionalism while working within restricted areas of the facility. Follow established cleaning procedures, security requirements, work instructions, and customer expectations. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to management. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Must successfully complete an extensive Federal Clearance background check and approval process. Federal clearance requirements include USA-born citizenship verification, verification of residence, an extensive criminal background check, fingerprinting, and completion of required government application and security forms , which may include Government DFE forms, DOD/DOJ NBIS applications, ICAM, and other required documentation. Must speak fluent English. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to the assigned work location. Ability to reliably commute to downtown Indianapolis. Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, including security and customer requirements. Ability to safely use cleaning products, tools, and equipment. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. Previous commercial cleaning, custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related experience is preferred. Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all required background and Federal Clearance requirements and confirmation of eligibility to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements. Ability to climb stairs and move throughout the assigned facility. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to push and pull cleaning carts, trash containers, vacuums, and other equipment. Ability to work with commercial cleaning products while following established safety procedures. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment. Ability to work in environments that may include dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures, and wet or slippery surfaces.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily indoors within a secured commercial office environment in downtown Indianapolis. Certain assigned work areas are restricted and require successful completion of the applicable Federal Clearance process before access is permitted. The employee may be exposed to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, varying temperatures, and wet or slippery surfaces while performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties.
