A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

DESCRIPTION
Maintains assigned areas/departments in a clean and orderly condition.
Compensation:
up to $21.15 per hour.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cleans office and shop work areas, including hallways, stairs, and restrooms Sweeps/scrubs floors using appropriate cleaning appliances Washes walls, woodwork and windows as necessary Empties trash and transports same to disposal point or appropriate trash collection dumpster Operates floor scrubber, forklift and tenant sweeper as required to perform assigned duties Lifts, carries, pushes or pulls objects or supplies weighing no more than 50 pounds Performs general cleaning of assigned work areas using appropriate cleaning materials and equipment including changing light bulbs Keeps supervisor informed of inventory levels of janitorial supplies Operates appropriate powered cleaning equipment as required Keeps work and supply areas clean and orderly, and follows all safety rules and procedures Projects a positive company image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; complies with company dress code Required to work overtime if needed Broken mercury light bulbs will be swept up and all pieces placed in an accumulation drum. A stock transfer will be completed by maintenance on a full drum and they will transport the drum to the Hazardous Waste Storage area Works with hazardous waste and receives Hazardous Waste Training every year Perform other work-related duties as directed or assigned
