Job Description

Ivy Tech Community College - Columbus is looking for an individual to join our team as a part time Maintenance and Custodial Technician. This part-time position plays a key role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of campus facilities, equipment, and grounds. The ideal candidate will handle a mix of custodial tasks, preventive maintenance, event setup, and minor construction work while ensuring a welcoming and well-kept environment for students, faculty, and staff. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean and maintain designated campus areas, including restrooms, classrooms, and common spaces, on a scheduled part-time basis. Perform routine custodial duties such as emptying trash, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces. Conduct basic floor care including occasional buffing or spot cleaning. Operate basic custodial and maintenance equipment as needed. Complete assigned maintenance or custodial work orders efficiently and log updates in the work order system. Assist in seasonal tasks such as light landscaping, snow removal, or grounds maintenance depending on availability. Support setup for small events or office moves by relocating furniture and supplies. Perform minor repairs such as painting touch-ups, light bulb replacements, or fixture maintenance. Follow established safety procedures and participate in maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment. May assist with light mechanical or electrical tasks under supervision, depending on experience and skillset.
Customer Service:
Provide courteous, student-focused service to campus community members. Respond to inquiries and facility-related concerns with a helpful and professional attitude. Contribute to a positive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Other duties consistent with the scope of the position may be assigned.
PAY RATE
$25/hour Education, Experience And Other Requirements High school diploma preferred. Experience in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and motorized equipment preferred. Knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations preferred. Previous experience in facilities cleaning and floor maintenance preferred. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
