Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Position Purpose The Farmers Market Custodian performs a variety of custodial, maintenance, groundskeeping, and operational support duties necessary to maintain the City's Farmers Market facility and surrounding property in a safe, clean, attractive, and functional condition. The position is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the facility, assists facility users with routine operational needs, and provides support to Parks and Recreation maintenance operations as assigned. Essential Functions and Basic Duties Performs routine custodial duties, including cleaning floors, common areas, fixtures, furnishings, windows, and public restrooms; sanitizes and stocks restroom supplies Performs routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns Performs minor maintenance and repairs, including painting, fixture replacement, basic carpentry, pressure washing, and related tasks Maintains the grounds and exterior areas, including landscaping, litter removal, and related duties Opens, secures, and monitors the facility as required Sets up and stores tables, chairs, and other items for market operations and facility activities Serves as a point of contact for facility users and community partners, addresses routine operational and maintenance concerns, and coordinates issues requiring additional action with supervisory staff Reports major maintenance needs and coordinates repair requests Operates power tools, custodial equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties Assists with maintenance, landscaping, event support, and related duties throughout the Parks and Recreation Department when Farmers Market responsibilities permit Maintains records of inspections, maintenance activities, supply inventories, and assigned work Assists with snow and ice removal activities as assigned Performs related duties as assigned Qualifications Training and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent Experience in custodial work, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, or a related field preferred Special Requirements Possession of a valid driver's license Ability to successfully complete background and drug screenings Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of custodial practices, basic building maintenance, groundskeeping techniques, and workplace safety procedures Ability to identify maintenance and safety concerns, perform minor repairs, and safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools used in custodial and maintenance work Ability to communicate effectively with facility users and City staff Ability to work independently with limited supervision and prioritize assigned tasks Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required reports An Equal Opportunity Employer We do not discriminate on-the-basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy/childbirth related medical conditions age, or disability or any other protected class.
