A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Description:
Job Summary:
The essential duties are to perform routine and preventive maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures cleanliness of designated area within site. Sweep and mop all floors and vacuum carpets and dust all surfaces. Empty all trash receptacles and biohazard containers. Clean and disinfect bathrooms, refill tissue, paper towels, hand soap, hand sanitizer, etc. Clean and disinfect all countertops, exterior of appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, etc.) and furniture. Clean glass on entrances and exits and all interior glass as needed. Clean all stainless (bathrooms, kick plates, sinks, water fountains, door hardware Sweep all entrance and exit areas (porches, sidewalks) Ensure MSDS sheets are current for all chemicals. Adhere to all applicable Environment of Care Standards. Report any quality or safety related matters to immediate supervisor
Monthly:
Assist in preparation to buff all VCT floors.
Semi-Annual:
Strip and wax (scrub and re-coat as needed) VCT floors with 4 coats of high solids wax; Clean all window interior and exterior (entire building).
Annual:
Strip and wax (scrub and re-coast as needed VCT floors with wax; clean all windows. Participate in staff meetings and trainings and participate in webinars and/or seminars as appropriate.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have ability to apply common understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Louisiana Driver's
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee will work with cleaning general cleaning solutions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
