What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

This role is responsible for custodial duties including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, washing and waxing floors, cleaning cafeteria floors and tables, replacing supplies, cleaning glass doors and windows, cleaning bathrooms, disposal of trash and recyclables, snow removal, setup/breakdown of meetings and events, and opening/closing the buildings depending on the shift.
