Job Description

POSITION
Foreman Custodian - Second Shift
JOB GOAL
The Foreman Custodian assists the Head Custodian in overseeing custodial activities within the building. This position is responsible for supervising custodial staff, ensuring tasks are completed to standard, and performing custodial duties as needed. This position reports to the Head Custodian and Custodial Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of industrial cleaning methods and safety practices. Familiarity with custodial equipment and supplies. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong observational skills to assess the quality of custodial work. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities. Good interpersonal skills for maintaining positive relationships with staff and students. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, and balancing. Ability to frequently walk, bend, kneel, and use fine motor skills for detailed cleaning. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, with some exposure to noise and equipment hazards. Valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Custodial Supervisor and Head Custodian
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Custodial Supervision:
Assist the Head Custodian in assigning and monitoring tasks for custodial staff. Conduct regular checks of custodial work at night to ensure quality and completeness. Provide guidance and support to custodial staff during shifts.
Daily Cleaning Tasks:
Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms, restrooms, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and remove trash from assigned areas. Maintain restrooms in a sanitary condition and restock supplies as needed.
Equipment and Systems Maintenance:
Assist in operating and maintaining HVAC, life safety, and lighting systems. Report any maintenance issues to the Head Custodian for input into Asset Essentials. Help with minor repairs and routine maintenance on equipment and furniture.
Building Security and Maintenance:
Support the Head Custodian in ensuring building security, including locking and unlocking doors. Assist with snow removal and setup/takedown for school activities as required.
Training and Support:
Assist in training new custodial staff on cleaning methods and safety protocols. Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
Emergency Response:
Provide emergency cleanup services as needed. Be available to respond to custodial needs during off-hours as directed by the Head Custodian.
Work Environment:
The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with responsibilities primarily during evening shifts.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff. Promote a positive image of the District. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian. This position requires a dedicated individual who can effectively support custodial operations, ensuring a clean and safe environment for students and staff while providing oversight of custodial staff. SUMMER SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
All Custodians are required to work 6:00am-2:00pm starting the Monday after the school year ends.
