REPORTS TO
Director of Buildings & Grounds
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Buildings & Grounds, the Custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of school grounds and facilities. This role includes maintaining the overall condition of buildings and grounds to support a safe and functional environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to, the following: \~Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buff floors. \~Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas. \~Wash and spot clean walls. \~Dusts and washes windows in glassed areas. \~Replaces bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and other burned out lighting fixtures. \~Empties trash and recycling baskets. \~Replaces soap, toilet tissue, paper towels and other such supplies within lavatories and classrooms. \~Cleans and sanitizes all lavatories. \~Responsible for shoveling and general snow removal (may include plowing or operating snow blower) with specific attention to entrances and exits as necessary. \~Ensures buildings/areas are unlocked and locked as required. \~Reports promptly any conditions that need to be remedied or repaired. \~Makes minor repairs upon the direction of the Shift Supervisor and/or Director of Buildings & Grounds. \~Services job-related machinery/equipment (e.g., adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good working condition. Also changes brushes, pads, rollers, etc. on equipment. \~Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
\~Honest, reliable, dependable. \~Self starter. \~Proficient in operating computerized equipment, including systems used for HVAC management. \~Capable of following instructions with precision and efficiency. \~Ability to work effectively with the public, staff, and students. \~Ability to use small hand tools for performing minor maintenance tasks. \~Must be authorized to work in the United States EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
\~High School Diploma required. \~Possess Valid Driver\'s License. \~Previous experience in cleaning and maintaining institutional facilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hours:
Second shift 2:00PM - 10:00PM. This is a 12 month position. This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Services Employees International Unit (Custodial Unit) and the
SWCRVSDC.
Hourly Rate:
Appropriate step on the salary schedule pursuant to the
