What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
The custodian works on site and keeps the buildings clean and functional and grounds clean, and also ensures that all aspects of the facilities are safe, welcoming and comfortable for students, staff and public. Keeps buildings and grounds clean and orderly Sweeps, scrubs, finishes floors Empties and cleans waste receptacles Cleans and disinfects toilets and sanitary facilities Washes windows, walls, blinds, metal work, etc Maintains equipment and materials Moves, arranges and adjusts furniture and equipment Other duties as assigned
