A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
30-40 hours a week with weekends required AM and PM shifts

Ward's Berry Farm is looking for a reliable Cleaning Associate who plays a key role in creating a welcoming, safe, and clean environment for both customers and staff. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of customer-facing areas, including the retail store, restrooms, and outdoor spaces. The role may also provide backup support in back-of-house areas such as the kitchen, coolers, and loading dock as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
General Cleaning:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors Dust furniture, walls, and equipment Clean and disinfect surfaces, including high-touch areas like door handles and light switches Wash windows, mirrors, and walls Clean shelves, display fixtures, and other retail surfaces Collect and dispose of trash and debris; empty bins and replace liners as needed Clean spills and other hazards Communicate needs for cleaning supplies to managers Provide backup cleaning and maintenance in back-of-house areas, including the kitchen, coolers, prep rooms, storage areas, and loading dock, as needed Monitor facility conditions and report any issues (e.g., leaks, lights out, broken fixtures, equipment malfunctions) to the
Maintain cleanliness and order in public gathering spaces, including picnic areas. Realign and wipe down outdoor furniture and tables. Gather shopping carts and wagons from parking areas and ground Gather and empty trash throughout the grounds and parking lots Assist with setup and cleanup for private events or seasonal displays as needed Assist with landscaping and snow removal
Restroom Maintenance:
Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms. This includes store restrooms, employee restrooms, and three restroom trailers. Ensure restrooms are tidy and stocked with necessary supplies at all times Empty restroom waste and sanitary receptacles as needed Monitor and fill water tanks in restroom trailers Report any trailer-related maintenance issues to managers Use cleaning chemicals and supplies safely.
Customer Interaction:
Be courteous and respectful when interacting with customers Report any customer concerns or incidents to management
Qualifications:
Familiarity with various cleaning methods, products, and equipment Ability to clean and disinfect various surfaces Knowledge of safety guidelines when working with chemical cleaners Ability to operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, mops, and floor scrubbers Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to lift and move objects, potentially up to 50 pounds Flexibility to work weekends and holidays Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (cold, hot, rain, snow, etc.)
