Part-Time Weekend & Holiday Porter Spring Gate Apartments Somerville, MA Job Details Part-time $18.50 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience Sanitation In-person customer service Groundskeeping High school diploma or GED Property maintenance Full Job Description Property Summary FHRC Management Corporation is seeking a Part-Time Weekend & Holiday Porter for Clarendon Hill Towers, a 501-unit affordable housing community in Somerville, Massachusetts. Job Summary Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent and Property Manager, the Porter is responsible for maintaining an orderly and safe environment for residents and staff by performing cleaning and some maintenance services for apartments, interior and exterior common areas, and associated amenities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning work in public areas and resident apartments such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing and polishing floors, rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies, stairs, elevators and equipment.
- Wash windows, woodwork, door panels, sills and walls in the lobby, stairways and halls.
- Clean the compactor, compactor room and common area trash cans and all public areas.
- Replace light bulbs, polish metalwork, disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies.
- Report equipment failures to the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Upkeep grounds and abutting sidewalks/walkways of the property, water planters, and remove debris from the lawn areas.
- Keep walks free of snow and ice.
- Stock cleaning cart with supplies.
- Empty wastebaskets, and transport trash and waste to disposal area. Assist with transferring trash containers out of the buildings. Ensure that empty dumpsters are washed and disinfected.
- Report potentially unsafe conditions or maintenance related issues promptly.
- Operate small machinery necessary to carry out assigned tasks.
- Clean boiler room, electrical room, and all storage areas.
- Performs other custodial duties or tasks as assigned.
- Enforce and adhere to company policies, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in and complete training seminars, online training, and training in FHRC University as requested. Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in care-taking and janitorial work.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must have the ability to deal efficiently with tenants and the public; customer service orientation.
- Ability to relate to and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Bilingual is a plus.
