A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Bethesda, MD The Custodian primarily responsible for general upkeep, maintenance cleaning, restocking and securing of interior buildings/facilities/lobby's office areas, restrooms and all areas determined by contract or assigned by supervisor. Responsibilities Pick up trash and replace with trash liners Vacuum, mop, polish and sweep all floor areas Dust, wall spot, clean all glass, polish, sanitize all areas. Wash, clean, wipe down, sponge, rinse, scour and disinfect any assigned work area Note and report all areas in need of repair and any hazardous condition requiring correction. Close and secure all rooms upon exiting Operate floor cleaning and other cleaning equipment Follow directions and instructions. Identify safety and hazards and act accordingly.
