Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Patrick's Janitorial Service, LLC is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Custodial Technician to support janitorial services for the USDA Agricultural Research Service, Foreign Disease Weed Science Research Unit (FDWSRU) at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. The position supports administrative, laboratory, and greenhouse facilities and requires consistent compliance with Federal facility safety, access, and cleaning procedures.

WORK SCHEDULE
Approximately 2-3 scheduled weekdays per week. Authorized workdays are Monday through Friday. Work is performed during the Government service window of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean, sanitize, and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, washbasins, mirrors, fixtures, partitions, and dispensers. Replenish toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other restroom or hand-hygiene supplies. Sweep, damp mop, and maintain hard-surface floors. Vacuum carpets, rugs, entrance areas, and designated office spaces. Empty wastebaskets, replace liners, and remove trash from assigned areas. Collect and properly handle recycling and cardboard. Low-dust furniture, partitions, window sills, ledges, and accessible horizontal surfaces. Clean entrance and lobby glass and polish designated metal fixtures. Clean break-room surfaces, microwaves, marker boards, and other designated glass surfaces. Maintain entrances during inclement weather and respond to visible soil, moisture, or debris. Assist with periodic high dusting, detailed cleaning, and scheduled floor-care work including stripping, waxing, and buffing. Follow site cleaning checklists and immediately report maintenance, supply, safety, or facility concerns.
SPECIAL CONTAINMENT REQUIREMENTS
One building is a plant-pathogen high-containment laboratory and greenhouse facility. Employees assigned to this area must strictly follow biosafety and access procedures. Complete required FDWSRU containment and safety training before performing work in the facility. Work under Government escort while inside building Change into Government-provided protective garments before entering designated containment areas. Immediately report spills, safety concerns, or suspected containment issues.
