A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Janitor DescriptionNo Experience? No Problem!! We welcome applicants who qualify for the AbilityOne Program. It's a federal program that helps adults with disabilities find jobs and receive support services. We're hiring Custodians to help keep things clean and running smoothly. Never done this kind of work before? That's totally fine-we'll train you and make sure you feel confident every step of the way.
Location:
Fort Detrick, MD 21702.
Shift:
Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Day Shift).
Pay:
$17.84/hour.

A Day in the Life of a Janitor/Custodian at
CW Resources:
Start your day by checking in with your supervisor and teammates to go over the cleaning plan and what needs to be done that day. Grab your cleaning supplies-like mops, brooms, vacuums, and disinfectants-and load up if you need to. When you get to your assigned area, you'll get started by:

Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the floors.

Taking out the trash and putting in fresh bags. Cleaning restrooms, refilling supplies, and wiping down tables, chairs, doors, and more. Dusting furniture, shelves, and vents. Wiping windows, mirrors, and glass doors.

Before finishing your shift, you'll walk through the area one last time to make sure everything looks clean and neat. Finally, return your tools and supplies to the storage area and get ready for tomorrow. What You'll Need to be
Successful:
Willingness to learn new tasks.

Ability to work well with your teammates and supervisor. A friendly, can-do attitude. Ability to stay focused and to try your best. Valid Real ID. Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout your shift to clean and maintain different areas.

Repetitive motions such as mopping, sweeping, wiping, and scrubbing surfaces.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning equipment and supplies weighing up to 25-30 pounds regularly.

Navigating stairs, ramps, or uneven flooring safely while carrying tools or supplies.

Work is primarily indoors in commercial buildings with varying temperature and lighting conditions.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and solvents-training is provided to ensure safe handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is always required.
