Job Description

About 58 Culinary Group 58 Culinary Group , part of the Prentice Hospitality Group , is a premier hospitality company based in Portland, Maine, specializing in exceptional culinary experiences and flawlessly executed events. From high-profile corporate gatherings to unforgettable private celebrations, we combine creativity, precision, and operational excellence to deliver moments that leave lasting impressions. Our team thrives on innovation, adaptability, and attention to detail—whether orchestrating events in unique outdoor locations or designing intricate culinary presentations. At 58 Culinary Group, every event is an opportunity to exceed expectations, overcome challenges, and create extraordinary experiences for our clients. We value collaboration, ingenuity, and a passion for hospitality, and we pride ourselves on building a team that is as resourceful and dynamic as the events we produce. Position Summary We're looking for a dependable, energetic Porter / Utility team member to join 58 Culinary Group for the season. This is a hands-on, behind-the-scenes role that keeps our catering operations running smoothly—before, during, and after every event. If you're someone who takes pride in keeping things organized, moving fast, and supporting a team, this is a great place to grow. For the right candidate, this role can serve as a natural stepping stone into a prep cook position.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre- & Post-Event Operations Load and unload catering vehicles before and after events, ensuring equipment and product are handled with care and efficiency. Transport, organize, and stage catering supplies and equipment at the commissary and in vehicles. Maintain a clean, orderly workspace in the catering kitchen and storage areas. Warewashing & Reset Wash, sanitize, and reset all catering items—including chafing dishes, serving vessels, smallware, and equipment—to event-ready condition. Spray down, rinse, and properly sort dishes and cookware post-event. Assist with inventory organization and restocking between events. On-Site Event Support Attend larger events and House Island productions to support the team with load-in, setup, and load-out. Assist event staff with physical tasks as needed—moving equipment, breaking down stations, and keeping the back-of-house clean during service. Serve as a dependable extra set of hands wherever the team needs you most.
Qualifications:
Reliable, punctual, and physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs consistently throughout a shift. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment—event days move quickly and the pace changes. A team-first attitude; you're not looking for your own spotlight, you're looking to make the whole operation better. Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, restaurant, or warehouse environment is a plus but not required. A genuine interest in food, hospitality, or growing into a culinary role is a bonus. Must have reliable transportation or the ability to get to Cape Elizabeth and Portland area event sites Why Join Us At PHG, our work is guided by three core pillars: A Culinary Lens, Modern Service with Classic Values, and A Sense of Place. Food is our anchor — rooted in the terroir of Maine and executed with intention, discipline, and respect for craft. We deliver hospitality that is best in class, relationship-driven, and grounded in professionalism and care. Our values — Expert, Nimble, Ambitious, Inclusive, and Timeless — shape how we operate every day. We bring deep expertise to our craft, move with agility, strive for excellence, foster welcoming environments for all, and build concepts designed to endure. Each of our restaurants is connected to its neighborhood and community, contributing meaningfully to Maine's evolving hospitality landscape while creating lasting value for our guests and our teams. We're excited to meet passionate, dedicated individuals who want to grow with us. Apply today and become part of our amazing team
